Todd with some bulletin board material.
'' The Flames have next to no secondary scoring – they are extremely top-heavy – so this trio best hit the ground running when play resumes".
Chucky, Mang and Backs may take offence to that comment!

So what do people think will happen in the series vs Winnipeg?

I have not seen a lot of Winnipeg, but they seem to be constant under achievers.

On paper they should be able to handle us.

I don't think people see the Flames as the clear victor here so it is close and even if the Flames do win, what are they going to do to teams like Colorado or Vegas?

I would rather lose the play-in series to get a 1/8 shot at number 1 and select Byfield with it. Or end up drafting like 10 or 11 overall and getting Jack Quinn.

If anything, we are facing one of the toughest draws of the play-in sets. How our defense and backchecking forwards handle the top lines is going to be the thing that decides this. Expect to see Ehlers sprung on breakaways a lot.

Personally, I don't have a lot of confidence in the opening round. If we manage to take game one, we will probably lose the next 3. If they win the first one, we may have a chance to correct the mistakes. Depending on Ward of course. The Flames have been a 50/50 team for a lot of this season, so I don't see them winning 2 or 3 in a row.

Its an obvious must that Talbs/Big save Dave are on top of their game and keep them in it to win it (Talbot gets the start and I have a feeling will kill it 😉...) Nonetheless, we need every Flame to bring their A game/💯 best of efforts with every single frickin shift (meaning allll the little things Individually and as a team), like forwards coming back helping the D out is beyond HUGE and an absolute must!!! (Especially with the Jets forward group) They also ‘ HAVE TO BE’ the more hungrier of the teams on every shift and hopefully their past experience will give them the extra fuel that’s needed to be humgry as f🙊ck...
If they can get that going while advancing then they Can actually have a chance to go toe to toe with the Blues or whoever else their facing...
Anyways they need be very mindful of not only their own end but the middle of the ice as well to have a chance...

After catching up on how good Fox actually was this year, I think it's now pretty safe to say the Flames lost the trade with the Hurricanes. A top four of Giordano, Hamilton, Brodie, and Fox would have been way better than anyone else in the league and probably would have carried them to a division win.

Who knows if they could've actually convinced Fox to stay in Calgary, but they definitely didn't get any value for him.

Fox can't be used as a grader for the trade since he had negative trade value and was only a throw-in. Nobody would have traded anything for him, so it's not like we could've gotten "value" in another separate trade.

We dodged a bullet with Ferland and traded 3 years of Dougie for 6 years each of Lindholm and Hanifin, Lindholm being one of the best value contacts in the NHL.

Is it a landslide win for the Flames? No, but they did more than just fine, and so did the Canes. Win-Win. It happens sometimes.

Seeing how good Fox is becoming makes me think the Flames scouting staff are pretty good at their job and gives me more confidence in their picks. Can't wait for Valamaki to start making an impact and to see what Jakob Pelletier can do at the pro level too.

I think if the Flames were willing to give him a top 4 spot, Fox would've signed. The main problem was the Flames were super deep on D 2 years ago and Carolina was and still is super deep.

Wasn’t it basically confirmed that Fox stated he wasn’t gonna play anywhere besides the big Apple??? Which is a big reason why we sent him off and after Carolina realized it to be true he went to NY?

That guaranteed top 4 crap was just an excuse to jump ship and sign in NY. He was not guaranteed anything in NY and signed there nevertheless no questions asked.

With Trouba as the main guy on right side (at the time) and DeAngelo coming off a good season he was slated to be on the 3rd pair anyway, at least to start the season.

Fox and his representatives always said he just wanted to play in the NHL. Calgary couldn't guarantee he wouldn't go to the AHL and Carolina didn't have a spot for him either.

It got to the point where he didn't see an opportunity in Carolina so he forced a trade to where he wanted to play.

Who knows if it was bs, but he likely would've signed if they gave him a spot. It wasn't like Erixon who straight up said he wasn't going to sign.

I wish I could sit in with all of Trelivings conversations. Why would Carolina parted with him then? Jesus you're smarter than this line of thinking. You may have different opinions but saying Fox would have signed with a guaranteed top 4 & then in the next breath you say he & his agent just wanted to play in the NHL is about as valid as EK's trade rumours. Cmon, be better.

A guaranteed spot and playing in the NHL are the same thing. Carolina couldn't guarantee him an NHL spot either. He would've started 7th or 8th on the depth chart with both teams.

Obviously I could be wrong but I could of sworn that even the media had brought to the surface how the Flames wasn’t able to sign Fox because not only did he not wanna play in Canada but mostly he wanted to play for his favourite team that he grew up cheering...🤔
Either way the Flames couldn’t of signed him so we used him as a sweetener with Carolina...
Dougie Hamilton definitely has the skills but apparently wasn’t the best of team players so I for one really like our return from Carolina..
Lindholm is an absolute stud and we signed him on an amazing deal and Hanifin still can also become more solid making his contract a steal...
On another not, I wonder if Hall would sign for a home town price of 7.5-8 for whatever amount of years??? if so swaping him with JG after getting a really good return sounds like a no brainer to me.

Of course the media is going to say that because that's what the media does. Just like Gaudreau is guaranteed to go to Philly in two years because he grew up a Flyers fan and Hall wants to play for the Flames because he grew up a Flames' fan.

Fox's representatives repeatedly said that Fox would have no problem signing with the Flames if they had an NHL spot for him. There's no reason to say that if there wasn't some truth behind it.

OMG Fox obviously wouldn't sign in Calgary...or Carolina for that matter

Doesn't take a genius to figure it out, if either of those teams could have signed him they would have. Hamilton is about to get a MASSIVE contract too

Calgary has two very good players on very good deals from that trade

Hunk just likes to be opposite of the mainstream of opinions for some reason. The rest of us can sleep quite nicely knowing we got a great deal on 2 5th overall picked players in their early 20's. Im for one happy with the deal!

Can you please post the source for Fox’s representatives? I can’t remember that far back and you say it like it’s true.

This was from the best source of the Flames that I can find.

Seems like Tre was talking between the lines.

http://www.flamesfrom80fe...ger-and-different-in.html

Dude is a Harvard grad, he understands the importance of good PR. If TRE felt he was going to sign you have to think they would have done everything in their power to keep him.

Seems more like Carolina did not do thier due diligence. Don´t think they got much for him.

Looks like Edmonton builds their rinks like they do their teams, with lots of holes... BAZINGA!
